The business card is alive and well in marketing and commerce. In fact, this handy little card can be an invaluable marketing tool to employ on a regular basis. If you don’t have one yet, here is a look at why you might want them.

In a world where technology is commonly used at each turn, the simplicity of a business card cannot be readily overlooked. Business cards are convenient. Their size dictates that they are easy to keep in a card-carrying case, notebook, or wallet. It’s your first line of impression when meeting a potential client or customer. A business card says you care about projecting a professional image for your business.

Always keep business cards on you. You can never tell when you may strike up a conversation with someone who might benefit from your services, or someone you’d find as a valuable network contact. By making sure you have a card ready to offer with your contact information you set the tone for the manner in which you conduct yourself as a business professional. Ask them for one in return.

A high quality business card gives you a great opportunity in network settings to advertise your goods or services to people you meet. You card should list your basic contact information at minimum. Basic information should include your name, company title, phone number, email address and website. Additional information you may wish to display include company logos, tag lines, physical addresses and links to social networking sites if appropriate. Keep your design clean and simple. You can even go green by getting your cards printed on recycled paper.

Even in an age where technology is everywhere, there is no substitute for handshakes and smiles. You will encounter people in your personal and business dealing with whom you will want to be in contact with and vice-versa. With your business card you will be ready to make new connections.
