Training your employees is a very big task and there is a lot at stake. If you learn how to train them properly then you can be confident that when you leave them to do their job they are going to do it well. However, if you do not train them properly you are going to find yourself having to clean up their mistakes more often than not. So the key in training your employees comes down to one simple thing: allow them to be hands on.
The biggest way that people learn is from doing. Many companies training videos or programs that employees are required to do. This is ok but it’s ultimately ineffective. Employees are not going to be able to retain all the information that is needed simply by watching it. Even if they are taking extensive notes it’s difficult for the body to be trained just by watching. For that reason it’s important that all employees do their best to get their hands dirty and start practicing what they are learning.
The best way to do this is to allow them to finish a section and then immediately allow them to get back to work on it. Allowing them to have practice doing it after they have learned it will allow them to be ready once they get done with the training. You are helping them to bridge the gap and the learning curve and it will allow you to have a much better company employee.
