Getting the right people on your team

In any business, it is important to have the right team in order to succeed. Hiring the right people to be on your team is as important as setting realistic goals and successful business strategies. So how exactly can you pair the right person to the right job?

There is a big difference between hiring someone that looks good on paper and hiring the person that is right for the job and for the company. Anyone who has experience in hiring can attest to that. Most of them would also agree that it is best to leave a position open than to fill it with someone that is not the right fit.

When looking for the perfect hire, look for someone that is willing to learn. Different companies have different styles in performing identical jobs. Because of this, if your potential employee is not willing to adapt to your style and prematurely insist on doing it his or her way, that might be a problem for you and your team. The new hire must be the one willing to learn and adapt to new styles of doing things. He or she must be able to perform well in a new setting to be able to help the company grow.

On the same note, the perfect hire will have something to bring to the table. He or she should be able to contribute something without being too pushy or overwhelming. It is a gift to be of balance in this. However, the perfect hire will be able to adapt and adjust and eventually be able to contribute new ways of doing things that can help the performance of the whole company.

Always check the work ethic of your hires. If they have issues regarding attendance in the past, no matter how enthusiastic the person seems during the interview, their passion and commitment to the job must be something that you should look over.
